Tip of the Day - Planning

It seems an obvious thing to say, but before doing any writing on a bid, you have to plan what you are going to say.  This tip is valid both for overall what you want to say, as well as what you want to say for each individual answer.

On an overall level, what are you selling to the commissioners?  It could be that you are a high quality and experienced provider, or that you have some brilliant innovation that will improve patient experience and/or save the commissioner money.  Whatever it is, be clear about what exactly it is and build your bid around it.  This gives an overall theme for the bid that can then be disseminated in to each individual answer.

For individual answers, sketch each one out, maybe along the lines of how you want to divide it up with sections / sub-sections.  For examples, if the question was about patient satisfaction, the plan could be along the following lines:

Introduction – how you are experienced and examples of scores achieved

Patient satisfaction gathering methods – e.g. patient groups, surveys, token boxes, email

What you do with the satisfaction scores / feedback – reviewed by managers, acted upon where possible, all are replied to where possible

Examples of making changes based on satisfaction scores / feedback

Conclusion – Saying the above shows that you know what you are doing
