Tip of the Day – Graduate Bid Writers

Today’s tip is about building your bid team for the future. Although you cannot beat having someone experienced in bidding and the industry you are working in, it can often be just as beneficial to bring in some new blood.

My recommendation if you look to get new blood in is to go for recent graduates.  They have no pre-conceptions of the working world and can often bring new energy, ideas and have the ability to ask ‘stupid questions’.  Don’t knock the ‘stupid questions’ though, often they are things taken for granted by those of us who think we know what we are talking about, looking at them from a different angle and asking ‘why?’ is not always a bad idea.

Although potentially any graduate can fit the bill, a good option is to go for those who have done a degree in a social science.  These degrees are all about researching, analysing and writing essays; see a correlation with bid writing?  If you take a graduate straight from university, they can take these skills and apply them straight to bids.
